Hometown Sounds, the finest source for #DCmusic, is thrilled to present 10 piece hip-pop-pyche-rock band allthebestkids for our July showcase at the Kennedy Center’s free Millennium Stage.

Allthebestkids come from the future, with one purpose; to spread the highest vibrational music this world has ever known. Instead of attempting to manipulate the past in their favor, ATBK wield pop, soul, hip hop, & psych rock as their luminous love filled mega sword, striking at the heart of darkness wherever they land. Those with pure intention, there’s no need to worry 🙂 – Allthebestkids will effortlessly fill your emotional tanks with the energy you so desperately desire, reminding you of something forgotten long ago. We are all the best kids.

RSVP here and come to the free performance at 6 PM on Wednesday July 11th!

Top 5 Videos of 2017 #4: allthebestkids – DreaMastR

Number 4 was a real tough choice this year. “Confetti”, the infectuous single by hip-pop band allthebestkids, is our fave single of the year, and the video that the band shot at this year’s Funk Parade on U Street is a fun and worthy accompaniment to earworm’s big marching band style. But earlier this year, the band seized on a golden opportunity to craft a video for “DreaMastR” from last year’s full length album Go Out With A Bang, and totally captured the year’s zeitgeist in town. In the spring of 2017 everyone in DC either flooded social media with selfies taken in the Kusama Infinity Mirrors exhibit at the Hirshhorn, or grumbled at the near impossibility in acquiring tickets. Cody Valentine, frontman for the bestkids, not only got in but managed to film an entire music video surreptitiously in it. As an exhibit staff member confronts the cosmic rapper, the lyrics “What you can’t do is what you can’t prove” let us in on the secret.

allthebestkids – dreamastr

For all its many faults, 2017 will always be remembered as the year Kusama joyously took over Instagram in DC. The Hirshhorn museum’s mega-popular exhibit of artist Yayoi Kusama’s Infinity Mirrors was the #1 hot ticket of spring, and required multiple Instagram posts to fully realize the jealousy of our peers. Funky hip-pop band allthebestkids went way further and somehow managed to shoot an entire music video in the exhibit, despite the crowds and gentle prodding of event staff. Though the song “dreamastr” appears on their 2016 album Go Out With A Bang, allthebestkids could have written this as the cosmic theme song for the gorgeous and whimsical exhibit. Catch them opening for Miami band Magic City Hippies at the Black Cat on Saturday night.

allthebestkids – Confetti

Genre-defying ensemble allthebestkids debuted their new single “Confetti” with a bang last week, dropping this music video shot during this year’s Funk Parade festival on U Street. The video’s backdrop hearkens back to one of our faves ever, Asheru and The Funk Ark’s “Funky DC” from 2014, and we hope more bands will follow suit. The song is a certified earworm, with singer Anya Ross’s killer hook accentuating Cody Valentine’s rap verses, and the crisp drums and big brass sound make us want to dance through the streets. Catch allthebestkids and Drive TFC on a sunset cruise on the Boomerang Pirate Ship on Sunday September 17th, because what’s better than partying on a pirate ship?
