Born Jamericans – Send My Love video

DC music video of the day! Happy Valentine’s Day to all the DC music lovers out there. Some of you might not remember Born Jamericans, a reggae/hip-hop duo popular in the 90s. Their hit song Send My Love, from their 1997 album Yardcore, seemed a good choice for this day devoted to roses, chocolates and public displays of love and commitment.

Fort Knox Five – Funk 4 Peace video

DC music video of the day! Fort Knox Five have been rocking this town for many years now. Their DJ sets are frequent and always fantastic, but their 2008 album Radio Free DC is absolutely unmissable, featuring guest spots from Asheru, See-I and even Ian Svenonius. Today we’ve got their video for Funk 4 Peace with Mustafa Akbar on the vocals.

Volta Bureau – Hope video

DC music video of the day! Volta Bureau is THE electronic dance band to watch in DC right now. Outputmessage, already with a number of great albums and singles to his credit, added Micah Vellian (with whom he previously collaborated as Dmerit) and DJ Will Eastman to transcend all their previous music output. They’ve only released a few singles and remixes to date, but an album must be coming soon, and with it wider recognition and accolades. For now, here’s their debut single Hope.

We Were Pirates – Better Off Without You video

DC music video of the day! Did you know that We Were Pirates‘s Mike Boggs is the cousin of former DC songstress Laura Burhenn? I learned that bit of trivia at December’s Federal Reserve Collective reunion show at the Black Cat. I’ve been a fan of this band since seeing them play Fort Reno a few years ago, but most people (NPR fans) will recognize the band’s version of The Three Of Us from This American Life’s Break-Up episode. They’re back on the scene with a brand new album, and a music video for the lead-off track, Better Off Without You.

Tittsworth – Here He Comes video

DC music video of the day! We are pretty lucky to have a DJ like Jesse Tittsworth call DC home. This guy plays to packed rooms all over the planet, yet he still found time to partner with fellow DC DJ Will Eastman to open the U Street Music Hall in 2010, bringing top notch dance acts to a spot whose primary focus is the sound, not bottle service. Tittsworth even finds time to produce music, like today’s video, the Nadastrom Remix of Here He Comes feat. Nina Sky and Pitbull, from his 2008 album 12 Steps.
