Ihsan Bilal – Don’t Waste My Time video

Recent X-Factor contestant Ihsan Bilal and video producers House Studio DC collaborated on the music video for D.W.M.T. (Don’t Waste My Time) as part of their $5 Music Video series. Ihsan, a former student of the Duke Ellington School for the Performing Arts, is the first recipient of House Studio’s Artist Grant Program. Don’t Waste My Time, a dubstep-influenced pop monster, is available now on iTunes and comes from her upcoming album T.E.A.L. (Time, Evolution and Love). All these acronyms make my government contracting ass feel right at home.

Bobby Thompson – Down To Here video

Last week blues rocker Bobby Thompson, longtime bandmate of Justin Jones, released a music video for his newest single Down To Here. Directed by Paulo Carrillo, it’s got just the right amount of melancholy, guitar solos and impressive facial hair. Keep an eye out for Bobby’s new blues DC supergroup Mud Rey with Tony Moreno on bass and the always-in-demand Ben Tufts on drums.

Tom Goss – Bears video

Hunky heartthrob singer Tom Goss‘s latest music video extravaganza pays tribute to those cuddly, hairy, big gay guys known as bears. The beefcake-filled video was shot partially at Town Danceboutique, DC’s biggest gay dance club and host of the DC Bear Crue Happy Hour every Friday evening. You’re probably a regular at Bear Happy Hour if you like bears as much as Mr. Goss, but maybe you aren’t yet in the know about “DC’s manliest Happy Hour featuring hundreds of men, a relaxed atmosphere, specials on draft beer, great conversation, and fun music”. And speaking of fun music, buy Tom’s new Bears single at https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/bears-single/id668780876.

Tabi Bonney – Get Lost In It

Here’s something a little different for your DC music video of the day. DC’s official tourism site washington.org last week debuted a short video called “Get Lost In It” to showcase our fine city to the rest of the world, featuring DC rapper and part time LA transplant Tabi Bonney on narration. With plenty of slick footage of recognizable landmarks and party spots, this video will warm the heart of anyone who loves DC. My only complaint: including some clips of the Fort Reno summer concert series would have been icing on the cake. (Coming back tonight, weather permitting!)

B Side Shuffle – Introducing video

Funk rock band B Side Shuffle have a quick video for you before the 4th of July holiday. Introducing comes from their FREE debut EP Live From The Kitchen, and you’ll be able to tell from the monster drum solo that kicks off the song that this video was shot as they recorded the EP. Props for that. They’ll be opening a night of great music at the Rock & Roll Hotel this Friday, supporting Silver Spring reggae band The Relics and Alexandria’s FeelFree. Happy Birthday America!

M.H. & His Orchestra – Washington, D.C. video

We here at Hometown Sounds loves us some Max Holiday (M.H.) & His Orchestra. Live Picks! columnist Tony Porreco told you all about this soulful bandleader earlier this year, and we featured his newest song Washington, D.C. in our Tribute to DC Podcast back in April. Now M.H. has released a beautiful music video for Washington, D.C. shot by Dedalus Moving Pictures, the fine folks behind some of our favorite videos from Drop Electric. The video was inspired by the arrests of dancers at the Jefferson Memorial back in 2011. Grab the song for whatever price you think is fair at his Bandcamp page and make plans to see his live show late Saturday July 13th at Jammin’ Java.

Deep Dish – Flashdance video

DC, here’s a classic video to get you through your Monday. Deep Dish, the house music production/DJ duo of Ali “Dubfire” Shirazinia and Sharam Tayebi, practically conquered the world dance music in the 2000s before going their separate ways. Their 2005 progressive house album George Is On produced a number of memorable singles, including Flashdance, featuring Anousheh Khalili on vocals.
