Liftoff – Summer’s Shown video & show

DC music video of the day! Liftoff just released their debut album Sunday Morning Airplay two days ago, but the group, in one form or another, has been around for a long time. Sharing most of a line-up with Thunderball, their music appeared on the very early ESL compilation disc Dubbed Out In DC way back in 1997. Now producing for Fort Knox Recordings, the group headlines a show at the Black Cat backstage tonight with DJ sets from Thunderball and Fort Knox Five. To get you warmed up for that, here’s their debut video Summer’s Shown.

Their appeal is worldwide but they stay rooted in their hometown through many swank nightlife destinations like the Eighteenth Street Lounge, American Ice Company, and the reggae-themed Patty Boom Boom. DC music video of the day! But today it’s not quite a music video. Amazingly talented musician Yoko K. gives a free show at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage at 6 PM this evening. In preparation for that show, we’re featuring her talk at the TEDxPotomac conference from May 2010.
