Teen Mom – I Wanna Go Out video

Today the fuzz pop trio Teen Mom released an awesome video for I Wanna Go Out, from their upcoming debut EP Mean Tom (get it?). It looks like a “bad teens partying” movie from the early 80s, and yet still manages to have a big heart. Your next chance to catch them live in Friday November 16th at Velvet Lounge, with Vulture Sh!t and Tough/Luck.

Sam Cooper & The Sleepwalkers Kickstarter

Sam Cooper and his band The Sleepwalkers are extremely generous with their output of roots rock and Neil Young-influenced psychedelic Americana. Their fully-loaded Bandcamp page has, by my count:

And of course, this being Bandcamp, you can stream it all for free too. This is a band that has clearly embraced the new reality of distributing music and gaining fans in 2012. Choosing DIY instead of working for a label, The Sleepwalkers are Kickstarting their new record, called Titled: An Album of Songs Named By You. They want to record 50 instrumental tracks and are crowdsourcing the song titles to inspire their creation. Their modest financial goal is already more than half met, so you shouldn’t wait to lend a hand to this innovative and captivating local band.

Brett – Kate Moss video

Remember The Dance Party? The 80s influenced band was a DC powerhouse before decamping to LA. Now they’re back with a side project called Brett, making smooth n sexy Nu Disco music. Between Brett, Misun and Volta Bureau, DC could finally be seeing a nexus of live electronic music that I am really excited about. Check out the retro video for Kate Moss, the flipside of their debut single Confidence.

The Nighttime Adventure Society – Past Life video

Happy Halloween DC! Folk rockers The Nighttime Adventure Society have the best band name for today in the whole town. Led by singer Laura Zax, they get into the spooky spirit with a languid, creepy cover of MJ’s Thriller, free to download at their Bandcamp page.

Our music video of the day is an animated tale featuring Little Red Riding Hoodie. The song Past Life leads off their recent debut album Chapter Two: Past Life.

Free Lobster Buffet – Perfect Girl video

Thanks to Frankenstorm Sandy, we’ve all been cooped up inside for days now, and just about all Monday night shows got canned. If you are dying for some live music tonight, unfortunately some of tonight’s lineups got postponed due to travel problems. But as of now the Red Palace plans to bring local ska band Free Lobster Buffet to the stage tonight to provide the soundtrack for your drunken Sandy stories. Check out this video for Perfect Girl, get out of your house tonight and rock out!

Tom Goss – Make Believe video

Another brand new music video for you to enjoy before Sandy plunges us into silent darkness. Singer-songwriter Tom Goss came to DC for Catholic seminary, but now he’s spreading his hopeful messages through pop music. He’s gained quite a following in DC’s enthusiastic gay community and his past music videos were very popular on the LOGO network. His latest video, Make Believe from the album Turn It Around obviously required a LOT of work and patience on the part of him and artists Scott G. Brooks and Dave Peterson, so enjoy the beautiful result.
