The Galaxy Electric – Tomorrow Was Better Yesterday

The Galaxy Electric channel nostalgia for 60s mod style with the title track to their new EP Tomorrow Was Better Yesterday. Blight Records’ Jen Meller directs the duo of Jacqueline Caruso and Augustus Green in their new music video for the single. The commitment to authenticity is impressive, from the costumes to the Super 8 color film format to the setting, the site of the 1964 New York World’s Fair at Flushing Meadows Park in Queens. Let these two hip weirdos take you on an analog-synthesized journey through time and space.

The Galaxy Electric – Leaving

Enigmatic DC lounge-pop act The Galaxy Electric is now a part of the Blight. Records family. The expansive compilation BLIGHT. MAKES RIGHT, released today, proved to be the perfect spot for “Leaving”, a moody and introspective bonus track from their psychedelic debut album Everything is Light and Sound. Blight visual artist Jen Meller shot this music video in Super 8 at many recognizable DC locations, marrying the 60s musical vibe with a nostalgic home video style. The Galaxy Electric join Blight brethren Reignbeau, Stronger Sex and CrushnPain for a compilation release party tonight at DC9.

The Galaxy Electric – Please Come Home Soon

Psychedelic dream-pop band The Galaxy Electric have honed their performance chops recently through a series of live gigs around town, supporting acts like FuzzQueen and Young Summer. Today they released a slick live video of their single “Please Come Home Soon”, from their debut full length album Everything is Light and Sound, shot at their “secret getaway spot” in Princess Anne, MD on the Wicomico River. The beautiful riverside setting makes me dream of escaping this epic DC heatwave, and only coming home when the heat index has two digits. If you’re still in DC on Friday night, The Galaxy Electric help inaugurate DCDIT’s newest house venue Haushouse with Dovelady and Lithuania from Philly.
