RDGLDGRN – Bayou

Perpetually touring band RDGLDGRN dropped a new easy-rapping single “Bayou” yesterday, quickly followed by a lyric video for it today. But lyric videos require something more these days, so King Green shot this charming vid of the trio hanging out by a picturesque lake. Green fully leans into the Shot On iPhone theme, playing with Portrait Mode lighting effects and showing fans how to download the new single on Spotify. Grab tix now for their next hometown show at Union Stage on Wednesday October 30th at Union Stage with tour mates Hirie.

King Green – Similar

ICYMI, King Green of colorful rap-rock band RDGLDGRN has been quietly releasing solo singles to the streaming services over the last few years. His 2018 single “Similar”, calling out online trolls and our divisive American president, recently got this music video assembled by KG himself. The semi-lyric video mostly features Green’s deft bball dribbling with occasional punctuations from Michael Jordan. RDGLDGRN’s fall “Preseason Tour” lands in DC at Union Stage on Wednesday October 30th with Kash’d Out and headliner HILIE.

RDGLDGRN feat. Method Man – Opera

RDGLDGRN take a well-timed turn from fun to political in their new single “Opera”. With an assist from veteran Method Man, King Green takes the spotlight wearing a lizard mask to spit venom about the current war against undocumented immigrants, taking to heart the mantra “No human can be illegal”. The colorful hip-hop trio remains on perpetual world tour, currently sharing the stage with The Expendables and Tribal Theory, but promise to play a hometown show soon.

RDGLDGRN – Karnival

DC’s RDGLDGRN gained prominence fusing rap and rock with hits like “I Love Lamp” and “Lootin’ In London”, but the colorful trio are far from done stretching their musical boundaries. Latin and Caribbean influences are front and center in “Karnival”, the lead-off single and music video for RDGLDGRN’s new release currently in the crowdfunding stage. The PledgeMusic campaign to produce both an EP slated for a November release and a full album in spring 2017 includes the usual physical copies of the album and shirts, but also goes up to include a music video cameo, Six Flags day trip with the band and more. These talented musicians are charting a path to sustainable success by running their own record label, Deuce Day World, and continuing to grow their fan base across the country and the world by opening for Dirty Heads on their fall tour.

RDGLDGRN – Won’t Last

Hip-hop infused rock band RDGLDGRN are pretty badass cool in the many music videos we’ve seen from them to date, but their newest goes in a very different direction. The slower, groove-laden single “Won’t Last” soundtracks this video tribute to The Goonies, the most formative movie for anyone growing up in the 80s. While the colorful gents tour Germany in October, their second full length album drops October 9th, and you won’t even have to do the truffle shuffle to hear it.

RDGLDGRN – Runnin’ Away

One thing’s for sure, RDGLDGRN ain’t runnin’ away from DC anytime soon. The second single to drop from their upcoming sophomore release is “Runnin’ Away” and it is a catchy singalong rap/rock tune designed to maximize Green’s dancing moves. The new music video features footage and photography by Good Boy Media and omnipresent scene photographer Michael Andrade shot at U Street Music Hall on June 18th and Dave Grohl’s massive Foo Fighters anniversary show at RFK Stadium on July 4th. RDGLDGRN can rock a club and a massive stadium, but I personally wish they’d held onto this video just a bit longer and included footage of their Babe City show last Friday for In It Together Festival, though video cameras probably would have been destroyed in the tightly packed sweaty mayhem.

RDGLDGRN – No Pixar

Remember that hot new jam from RDGLDGRN in yesterday’s episode of the Hometown Sounds podcast? (You did listen, right? Of course you did.) Well there’s already a music video for it! Now your Wednesday is made too. “No Pixar” features King Green rapping about the state of the band and its art in 2015, how they aren’t backed by corporations like Pixar or Disney but instead keeping things simple and DIY. The video reflects that, just Green spitting verses with subtle clips off to the side. Don’t miss RDGLDGRN’s big hometown show Thursday night at U Street Music Hall!

#TBT RDGLDGRN – Lootin’ In London video

Sometimes things get quiet for DC music videos, so we’re jumping on the #TBT bandwagon and digging into our extensive archives. Colorful genre-hoppers RDGLDGRN headline a rare hometown show tonight at the 9:30 Club with support from Mista Selectah and Redline Graffiti. I hear Dave Grohl is in town, maybe he’ll show up too. Just prior to the release of their self-titled debut album last year, RDGLDGRN put out this killer video for “Lootin’ In London”, the sing-along anthem peppered with DC musical references. See you at the show tonight!

RDGLDGRN – Doing The Most video

DC, I hope you are “Doing The Most” with this glorious snow day. The colorful RDGLDGRN have a brand new video out today, another catchy number from their self-titled debut album. This time their studio drummer Mr. Dave Grohl shows up to tell a bit of their origin story before the dancing and rapping begins. The full time musicians striving for the big time seem to have been on tour for the entire last year, and they continue to wander the country through March, finishing March 22nd at the Fillmore in Silver Spring.
