Top 5 Videos of 2013 #3: RDGLDGRN – Lootin’ In London

All this week Hometown Sounds counts down the top 5 music videos of 2013. DC bands made a ton of amazing videos this year and my long list of nominees was quite long indeed, but now it’s time for the best of the best!

The anonymous and colorful trio RDGLDGRN did well for themselves this year with the release of their self-titled debut album and a coveted spot in the 2013 Vans Warped Tour. The catchiest song on the album, Lootin’ In London, got a snazzy video from director Ronan Pollock and continues to rack up accolades, including something called the “2013 Cage Match Mondo Grande Tournament Of Champions” from DC101. Here’s one more: #3 in our Top 5 music videos of 2013! Don’t miss them play an early show Saturday December 29th at U Street Music Hall with support from ACME and Nike Nando.

RDGLDGRN – Power Ups video

The eye-catching music videos from high-profile rap-rock act RDGLDGRN continue with Power Ups, a tribute to classic video games and especially Nintendo’s beloved Mario franchise, from their 2013 self-titled debut album. After touring the world as part of the Vans Warped Tour 2013, the colorful trio brings their sounds to headline U Street Music Hall on Sunday December 29th with support from ACME and Nike Nando.

RDGLDGRN – Hey O video

Rock/rap fusers RDGLDGRN continue to make fans worldwide, currently as guests on the Warped Tour in Europe and Australia, but haven’t yet shown DC much hometown love. But tickets just went on sale for their next DC show, Sunday December 29th at U Street Music Hall, and I’m very excited to see these colorful lads live. Today they released a new live music video for Hey O, a catchy song from their new self-titled debut album.

RDGLDGRN – Lootin’ In London video

My DC friends, here’s an earworm for you to sing all weekend long. RDGLDGRN, the Dave Grohl-approved trio melding dance, hip-hop and rock, are probably the hottest act in DC now, and they recently dropped this massive music video for the new single Lootin’ In London in advance of their new album coming out any day now. Before kicking off a lengthy fall tour, the colorful gents will be an essential act in DC’s Trillectro Festival on August 17th. Have a bloody kick-ass weekend!

RDGLDGRN – Million Fans video

Hope you had a beautiful and musical weekend DC. Here’s a hot video from Dave Grohl-approved hip-hop rockers RDGLDGRN to ease you into another work week. Million Fans comes from the EP Red Gold Green, definitely one of the most fun releases DC’s had so far this year. Be on the lookout for their first mixtape dropping very soon!

RDGLDGRN – I Love Lamp video

Genre-twisting quartet The Five One, individually known only as Red, Blue, Gold and Green, parted ways a couple of years ago and are now reformed as RDGLDGRN, with new drummer Dave Grohl (perhaps you’ve heard of him) and producer Pharrell Williams. Their new EP Red Gold Green drops today, and its blend of rock, go-go, hip-hop , pop and Caribbean influences is well worth seeking out. Here’s one of the new videos RDGLDGRN released from the EP, the catchy break-up tune I Love Lamp. And yes, the song’s title comes from Anchorman’s Brick Tamland (Steve Carrell).
