Escape-ism – Rome Wasn’t Burnt In A Day

Escape-ism is Ian Svenonious’s darker, weirder solo project, sometimes reinterpreting songs from his 60s garage-pop band Chain & The Gang. “Rome” was a stand-out track from Chain & The Gang’s delightfully cheeky 2017 album Experimental Music, reappearing with a moody shuffle as “Rome Wasn’t Burnt In A Day” on Escape-ism’s The Lost Record from 2018. The music video from director Alexandra Cabral simply presents Svenonious in grainy black & white grooving to his own beat, as no more style is needed for this icon of DC music.
