Koshari – Wake Me video

DC music video of the day! Tonight the Black Cat hosts the first of three benefit shows for the Sweet Tea Pumpkin Pie Music Festival, taking over a big chunk of DC Columbus Day Weekend in October with a multitude of bands. Tonight’s lineup features bands booked at this year’s festival, headlined by noisy indie punk band Surgery Dot Com, featuring former members of True Womanhood. Opening the show is local shoegazing band Koshari. They are true veterans of the DC indie rock scene, having put out their debut EP Disenchanted way back in 2001. Today’s video for the song Wake Me comes from their 2005 album Unless.

Typefighter – You When You’re Older video

DC music video of the day! Tonight you won’t want to miss a fantastic folk-rock show at the Black Cat with out-of-towners Plume Giant and locals Ugly Purple Sweater and Typefighter. Today’s video comes courtesy of the late & lamented SocialStudies DC blog, for the soon-to-be-released Typefighter song You When You’re Older. The video comes from last winter in the secluded Montrose Park in Georgetown.

To promote tonight’s show, Ugly Purple Sweater and Typefighter both covered a song written by the other band, and released the results as a free download on Bandcamp.

See you there tonight!

Drop Electric – Robot Funeral video

DC music video of the day! Drop Electric are scheduled to play a set at Artomatic in Crystal City tonight at 10 PM. And that sounds like a great excuse to me to run another fantastic video by these soundscape shoegazers. Today’s video for the awesomely named song Robot Funeral was released last summer, and the track should find its way onto Drop Electric’s forthcoming album. Happy Memorial Day everyone!
