Taylor Carson – Waiting For Me video

Hot off the presses! Singer-songwriter Taylor Carson just released a new music video for Waiting For Me, his collaboration with Stephen Kellogg and perhaps the most heartfelt and touching song from his excellent recent album With Innocence. Produced by Rob Helmstetter and Chris Sessions out in Colorado, the video keeps the focus on Carson and Kellogg’s songwriting with simple and gorgeous visuals. Carson has many local shows coming up, but the clear highlight is drummer extrodinaire Ben Tufts & Friends show on Saturday afternoon August 17th at Jammin’ Java, a fundraiser for the memorial fund of his father Craig Tufts.

Hometown Sounds is proud to give away a pair of tickets to another amazing lineup of DC music at the 9:30 Club. Friday night August 9th The Brindley Brothers, usually associated with Vienna venue Jammin’ Java, present M.H. & His Orchestra, with support from DIY champions Paperhaus and the mysterious Atoka Chase. I’ll be honest with you DC, I checked out Max Holiday and his impressively large ensemble at Tropicalia a few weeks ago, and I was completely blown away by their live show. The music videos we’ve featured on the site do not do justice to the energy and talent that they bring to the stage. Their soulful, brassy, tight sound is unline anything else going on in DC that I have ever heard, and I’d be the one to know! Just post a comment telling us your favorite DC area band and you’ll be entered to win! If you aren’t the lucky winner, tickets are availabe for only $15 through Ticketfly.

Megaphone Barons – Flies in a Tea Cup video

Purveying a genre they call California grit rock that includes synthesizers, electric guitar, drums and violin, Megaphone Barons are poised to release their second EP in August with a release party at DC9 on Saturday August 24th. Hopefully the DC Police Department won’t get involved as they did shutting down their recent gig for the DC Bike Party. Flies In A Tea Cup, the first single from the new EP, gets a DIY video release with freaky animal masks directed by Max Van Boxel. The song was inspired by a 2010 incident in New Dehli, India in which hundreds of thousands of people were displaced to make space for the Commonwealth Games.
