WORLD PREMIERE!
Five years ago Ken Francis Wenzel, frontman of bands Cross Kentucky and Riverside Lights, released his solo album …Beneath Potomac Skies to much acclaim, including multiple Wammie Award nominations and national radio airplay. Now as the singer-songwriter gears up to record and release its follow up High Tides & Misdemeanors, we’re quite proud to help share this music video for the 2014 album’s almost-title track. Shot in well-known DC spots in Adams Morgan and Georgetown, “Potomac Skies” thoughtfully captures the emotional dichotomy between the career-focused workaholic denizens of Washington and DC’s rare but dedicated creative class. It’s the #DCmusic world in a song-sized nutshell.
On this Giving Tuesday, as you consider where to generously direct the fruits of your grinding, soul-crushing but well-paying job, consider the GoFundMe campaign to help create Wenzel’s new album. DC needs more music of all styles that we can truly call our own.
