Don’t Stay Home This Week 3/12

DC, the sun is setting an hour later so that’s one less reason to stay home. Here are our #DCmusic picks to check out for the week ahead.

Tuesday 3/12:
Georgetown’s Blues Alley hosts a quartet of DC’s leading jazz figures on Tuesday night. Drummer Sriram Gopal‘s 2016 album The Fourth Stream provides the source material, and trombonist Shannon Gunn of the Bullettes, guitarist Garrett Gleason, and bassist Benjamin Rikhoff fill out this powerhouse group. Choose your set now, 8 or 10 PM.

Wednesday 3/13:
On Wednesday at 6 PM the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage partners with Strathmore’s prestigious Artist-in-Residence program to present soul singer Cecily. Celebrating Women’s History Month, Cecily will focus on the contributions of Aretha Franklin, Chaka Khan, Minnie Riperton, Gladys Knight, and others with Love & Freedom: A Tribute to Women of Soul.

Thursday 3/14:
Too many great options on this night. We give our Thursday night nod to Slash Run‘s bill featuring Mystery Friends and Maryjo Mattea, two choice pop/rock acts with brand new singles for your weekend playlists.
