Don’t Stay Home This Weekend 3/08

In honor of International Women’s Day, this weekend edition of Don’t Stay Home features female-identified #DCmusic shows to show our support!

Friday 3/08:
For their own recognition of International Women’s Day, tonight College Park’s MilkBoy ArtHouse hosts an all-female lineup to celebrate empowerment with the cheeky name MilkGirl. See Sahara, Nalani & Sarina, The OSYX and Black Folks Don’t Swim? while benefiting the worthy nonprofit Girls Behind The Rock Show.

Saturday 3/09:
Bumper Jacksons frontwoman Jess Eliot Myhre leads a new group called The Honky Tonk Heroes for a two-stepping dance party at Hill Country BBQ Saturday evening. Polish up your best boots for well- and lesser-known country classics from a dedicated performer that knows her stuff.

Sunday 3/10:
The Brixton‘s weekly DC Jazz Jam devotes the entire month of March to a series called #InstrumentalLadiesofJazz. This Sunday Bohemian Caverns Jazz Orchestra saxophonist and frequent experimental collaborator Sarah Marie Hughes leads the house band and whoever else shows up with chops and passion.
