DC, we know you’ve got the shutdown blues. Now’s the time to go out, support the arts and enjoy the weekend. Here are our #DCmusic show picks for the next three days!
Friday 1/11:
I don’t think we can say it any better than go-go legends The Chuck Brown Band from tonight’s Facebook event. “If you haven’t checked out the City Winery, you won’t recognize what was the old LOVE nightclub in NE DC. Upscale wood and brick with plenty of general admission tables for you to sit at when you aren’t on the dance floor. WIne Inspired, Regionally Influenced, Locally Sourced Menu. WIND …no… WINE us up!”
Saturday 1/12:
Three of DC’s wittiest and thought-provoking singer-songwriters come together Saturday night at Creative Cauldron’s Passport to the World Festival. Heather Mae, Crys Matthews and Louisa Hall all present songs of empowerment and acceptance in a powerful night of uplifting music.
Sunday 1/13:
CapitalBop‘s resurrected monthly Jazz Loft returns to Takoma Park’s Rhizome on Sunday night. Two of DC’s finest improvisers, cellist Janel Leppin and saxophonist Brian Settles, lead their own groups in expanding jazz’s lofty horizons. As all of the Jazz Loft shows, there are no tickets and all door donations go to the artists.
