#TBT Typefighter – Much video

#TBT for a Halloween-themed music video you may have missed. Last year the indie rock band Typefighter started to build the hype for their excellent debut full length album The End Of Everything with this video for “Much”, usually featured as a big finish to their blistering live sets. Aviv Rubenstein created this really fun video featuring kids in Halloween costumes fighting a dramatic war in the woods. It’s been great to see this band start to break out this year through extensive touring, so don’t miss their next hometown show at DC9 on Wednesday November 5th opening for Pup.

Typefighter – You When You’re Older video

As a musician, it’s not easy to keep things fresh over time. Perhaps you join a new band that sounds nothing like your original band, like Typefighter‘s frontman Ryan McLaughlin playing guitar in the hardcore band Joy Buttons. It could also be an evolution of a band’s sound. Typefighter had a mellower, folkier sound in their earlier EPs, 2009’s i want to see you game, boys, i want to see you brave and 2011’s fall winter fall. Our first taste of their louder, more powerful and garage-ier sound came last July at the 9:30 Club, and they were quite excited to get their new music into the ears of fans. Their new music video, You When You’re Older, provides an interesting way to hear the change directly. After watching the video, check out our post nearly 2 years ago to hear the same song recorded live for the late SocialStudiesDC blog. Grab their new full length album The End of Everything on April 22nd courtesy Huge Witch Records and your tickets to their release show May 3rd at Rock & Roll Hotel, with Shark Week, Teen Mom and Sunset Guns.

Typefighter – Much video

Moving on from their earlier, folkier material, Typefighter is anxious to release their new powerful, loud rock sound into the wild. The new album The End of Everything comes out next year, but the debut single from it Much gets the music video treatment today. It’s a gorgeous and fun music video, perfectly timed for Halloween week, and reminds us that childhood isn’t all innocence and sweetness. Also, Typefighter have one of the best band names in DC. Nice job.
