Tereu Tereu – Gratitude video

Ryan Little and Brendan Polmer make some excellent 90s lo-fi influenced indie rock as Tereu Tereu. They put out one of 2013’s best DC indie rock records Quadrants on Ryan’s label Bad Friend Records, alongside releases from Drunken Sufis, Fredricksburg’s Raw Feels and an archival single from Travis Morrison Hellfighters. Yesterday DCist premiered TT’s newest music video, the catchy earworm Gratitude with accompanying visuals by director Rahmin Atarod. Learn the lyrics and sing along next Thursday as Tereu Tereu opens our all-DC showcase with Showlist DC at Tropicalia, with Heavy Breathing and The Jet Age! I am even more pumped about next week’s show after this music video. Get your tickets now through ShowClix!

The Thiefs – Desperate Man video

Rockville’s The Thiefs like to rock hard with sweet guitar solos and fast drum fills, but not take it all too seriously. Their newest DIY video, “Desperate Man”, features a pretty epic neighborhood chase from a scary dude in a gas mask. Grab the debut EP It’s Not You, It’s Us from their ReverbNation store, and see them next at the venerable Grog & Tankard in Fredricksburg this Saturday.

GoRemy – Metro Song (Live on The Circus Life)

TICKET GIVEAWAY BELOW!

We heart Justin Trawick’s The Circus Life podcast and all this week we’re featuring videos of the live performances from the show. If you lived anywhere close to DC back in 2009, you surely remember The Arlington Rap, Remy Munasifi‘s breakout hit skewering the bit of the diamond over the river. Remy continues to pump out satirical rhymes on his YouTube channel, including this acoustic ditty about the joys of riding the Metro.

The Circus Life takes their show to the stage of the Rock & Roll Hotel this Saturday night with a stacked lineup including The Cowards Choir, Black Masala, M.H. & His Orchestra, The Sweater Set and Justin Trawick’s own group. Hometown Sounds has a hot pair of tickets to this show to give away, so tell us your favorite band in the comments below and you’re entered to win!

The Joads – Good Deal Gone Bad video

Hey, remember that podcast we put out a few days ago? Remember that awesome song by The Joads, “Good Deal Gone Bad”, and how we mentioned there’s a music video for it? GUESS WHAT! Here is that music video. It’s a surprisingly dark tale of addiction, guns, money and public transportation mishaps, lightened by its uptempo singalong soundtrack. The Joads’ “ramshackle surf blues” hits the stage tonight at Takoma Park DIY hotspot Electric Maid in a crazy variety show including young, not-at-all-racist punk band Dagos and The Georgetown University Improv Association. There’s absolutely no better way to get this weekend started off right!

Aaron Tinjum – American Road video

Recently Singer-songwriter Aaron Tinjum actually relocated to DC from Austin Texas, swimming against the tide of those talented musicians who make their mark on DC and move away. You’ll hear the Texas influence in his newest music video for American Road, a song about dysfunction in America that’s right at home in this town. Tonight Aaron joins Justin Trawick’s We Are The 9 singer-songwriter showcase at Iota alongside Dan Fisk, Louisa Hall and 5 other fine musicians. And while we’re talking about the hardworking Mr. Trawick, grab the latest episode of his podcast The Circus Life released today, featuring The Future of Music Coalition and our buds at Listen Local First!
