Caustic Casanova – Short Commute, Live Forever video

DC music video of the day! Caustic Casanova bring the loud rock to a great lineup at the Black Cat Saturday night, along with HotChaCha, locals Thee Lolitas and headliners Electric Eel Shock. They just released an album, Someday You Will Be Proven Correct, produced by DC legend J. Robbins from Jawbox, so you know it’s quality. Check out the debut video from the album, “Short Commute, Live Forever” and see them live this weekend!

More Humans – Mason Dixon video

DC music video of the day! New local label Cricket Cemetary is the home of a rock band you should get to know better, More Humans. Their 2011 EP Demon Station got props from a number of respected sources and they created a sweet music video for their song Mason Dixon. These guys are definitely a band to watch!

The Jet Age – I’m Starting To Wonder video

DC music video of the day! The Jet Age plays a fantastic and high profile show tonight at the Rock & Roll Hotel, opening for the influential band The Wedding Present. We recently featured their video for the song I Want You from their most recent album Domestic Disturbances, and today we’ve got the video for I’m Starting to Wonder, from their 2010 album In Love.

Uptown XO feat. Diamond District – Told You So video

DC music video of the day! Uptown XO is a veteran of the DMV rap scene. In addition to dropping albums and mixtapes galore, he’s one third of Diamond District, with Oddisee and yU, who made a big impact with their 2009 album In The Ruff. Told You So, the first video from last year’s FREE Monumental 2 mixtape, features his Diamond District collaborators. Makes me impatient for new stuff from the DMV supergroup. Check it out!

Dmerit – Stuck On You (Re-work) video

DC music video of the day! Clearly the hottest show this weekend is the culmination of the 2 year anniversary week celebration at U Street Music Hall: Volta Bureau headlining the BLISS party Saturday night. While we don’t yet have a new Volta Bureau video, we can go back in time to check out Dmerit. Dmerit is Outputmessage + Micah Vellain, two thirds of Volta Bureau, and you can hear the dance floor destruction even before the addition of Will Eastman. Here’s the video for the Re-work of Stuck On You, from the 2011 release Stuck On You Remixes.

The Weathervanes – Brazos Belle video

DC music video of the day! The Weathervanes are a fairly new addition to the folk-rock scene in the area. While it seems like most of the local bands are showing off at SXSW this week, the Weathervanes are rocking a free unplugged show at the Star & Shamrock on H St. NE tonight. To get you in the mood for this show, watch their video for Brazos Belle, from their 2011 EP Morning Light.

Mad Decent Moombahton Documentary

DC music video of the day! We’re taking a break from the traditional music videos today to teach you a thing or two about Moombahton. To educate the nation about the hottest new trend in underground dance music, the fine folks at Mad Decent have produced a video to introduce you to DJ Dave Nada and his musical love child. As part of its two year anniversary week madness, the U Street Music Hall hosts Moombahton Massive XIII tonight with Dave Nada himself and his counterpart Matt Nordstrom (Nadastrom), Sabo and Toddla T. You can see from this video how sick this party will be, so don’t miss it!

Kokayi – RoxTar video

DC music video of the day! Kokayi is constantly taking hip-hop to new places. The Grammy-nominated MC brings a diverse range of influences to his music, easily heard in the hit song RoxTar from his 2010 album Robots & Dinosaurs. RoxTar incorporates a DC bounce beat and pays tribute to its long musical history, something Hometown Sounds appreciates a lot!
