Miles Midnight – India Whiskey video

Those talented folks at Pick Up Productions are back with another fun music video. India Whiskey is the debut single from a brand new FREE EP by Miles Midnight called Supersonic. This catchy song blends elements of electronica and hip hop with a solid base of rock music. I’m hooked, can’t wait to see them live!

Chopteeth – Traitors of Africa live video

I don’t often feature a live video for the DC Music Video of the day, but Chopteeth are too good to ignore. This huge 12 piece ensemble plays infectuous Afrobeat music, and you cannot help but dance at one of their powerful live shows. If you’ve never seen them play, your next chance is Saturday night at the Artisphere in Rosslyn, with an opening set by local latin reggae band Nayas. Here’s a taste of the Chopteeth magic, a rendition of Femi Kuti’s Traitors of Africa performed at the Rock & Roll Hotel last year, featuring Funk Ark leader Will Rast on keys.

See-I – Dinner of Herb (Zeb Remix)

Speaking of awesome new U Street hotspot Tropicalia, Friday night the dub/funk band See-I, longtime Wednesday night residents at 18th Street Lounge, brings their well-polished live show to the subterranean club. Resident DJs Sol-Power All Stars provide turntable support. Legendary producer Zeb has crafted a new remix of a See-I track from deep in the vaults, 2004’s Dinner of Herb, and they’ve released this track as a free download.

All Good Funk Alliance – Go-Go Bananas video

Frank Cueto and Rusty Belicek, collectively All Good Funk Alliance, released a funky fun album Jacks of All Trades earlier this year on powerhouse local dance label Fort Knox Recordings. Yesterday the duo released a music video for Go-Go Bananas, directed by Jesse Justice and featuring Mustafa Akbar on vocals. This video was shot back in July at something called Camp Monkey Business, and after watching it I’m sure you’ll be as sad as me that you missed it. AGFA spins tonight at Tropicalia around a live performance by funk band The Good Thing.

Lost Philosophies – Hung Over video

Lost Philosophies, a side project for members of hard rock band Fight The Lion, is a band devoted to beer. They write songs about beer, their videos feature lots of delicious craft beer, and sometimes beer even provides their creative spark. This video for Hung Over, from their recent Art Institute of Washington recording sessions, is a tribute to having a good time with your friends, filming it and possibly regretting the whole thing later.

Asheru – Clay Davis video

There are a lot of great rappers in DC, but my favorite is Asheru. His flow is steady, confident and witty, and his collaborations with Fort Knox Five and The Funk Ark show how deeply he knows and loves DC. He’s just as committed to educating youth as a teacher as he is to music and performing. This brand new video for Clay Davis comes from a FREE new mixtape called I.K.L.A. Radio Vol. 1 (Internationally Known Locally Accepted) mixed by DJ Dirty Ice and featuring Kingpen Slim, Omar Retnu and others from the DMV. And if you don’t know who Clay Davis is, add this to your Christmas list.

Rare Essence – Rock This Party video

Hopefully your weekend partying was as fun as this Rare Essence live video. Shot at Tradewinds in Camp Springs MD where RE holds down a weekly show every Friday, this video shows that one of the original go-go groups is still going strong.
