Hometown Sounds

Tim Hicks, frontman of the politically fiery hip-hop band The Cornel West Theory, is back with a new outfit called The Dirty Church and a new full length album. Bullets is a love letter to old DC, sprinkled with clips of basketball coverage of the hometown team now known as the Wizards. Its first single is “BNARD (Whateva Made U)”, a nostalgic song for the memories of growing up in DC, seasoned properly with crisp soul samples. The music video features Hicks hanging with the homies while occasional lyrics flicker into view. Though gentrification marches on changing DC unrecognizably, Hicks and others make sure we never forget its history.
