The Washington Women in Jazz Festival kicks off today, and we might run out of pixels recommending all their fantastic shows to you. Start with tonight‘s All-Stars show at the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage featuring Amy K Bormet, Ana Barreiro, Karine Chapdelaine, Shannon Gunn, Sarah Hughes, Shacara Rogers, and YaShauna Swan, and follow their packed calendar for lots more mind-blowing jazz throughout March.
Tuesday 3/19:
Doomy MA band Elizabeth Colour Wheel headlines a show Tuesday night at the VFW 9274 in Falls Church, supported by three dark DC area acts we dig: skygazers The Orchid, dystopian post-punk band Tired All The Time, and ambient guitarist Tristan Welch.
Wednesday 3/20:
The GoldPants Party is back at Dupont Circle’s Sauf Haus this Wednesday night. Host Ginny Hill brings together singer-songwriter Nardo Lilly and hard rock trio A Shrewdness of Apes.
Thursday 3/21:
DIY hotspot Dwell hosts a night of experimental electronic and acoustic sounds Thursday night with Teething Veils of Etxe Records, electronic producer Tony Cruise and Philly/DC ensemble Tadzio on Blight Records.
