Shooting Down Asteroids is very worried about our planet. The indie rock band initially formed in 2015 around singer-songwriter Carlos Martin Vizcarra and now includes a full lineup of guitars, bass and drums. Their name is clearly a reference to the somewhat maligned 1998 Michael Bay film Armageddon, which is still enshrined in the venerable Criterion Collection as a lauded classic. Their debut album Fine. Well..., entirely performed and recorded by Vizcarra, came out back in late 2015, but their new music video for the climate change theme song “Drown” is up to date with copyright-free footage from our government agencies NASA and NOAA and many pointed jabs at science-denying elected officials. Confrontational protest music like this is just what 2017 needs most.
