Sara Curtin – Garden of Ghosts

“Garden of Ghosts”, singer Sara Curtin’s ode to the home of her alma mater, Michigan, stood out on her recent full length album Michigan Lilium as a song with lyrics to really dig into. Curtin recorded a live version of the song at Big Sky Recording in Ann Arbor, MI and even brought on Phredley Brown, music director for Selena Gomez and Bruno Mars, to lend a hand. The performance was thoughtfully captured on video, showing Sara’s versatility as a leader to whatever ensemble of musicians she gathers. Catch her next on Saturday December 5th at DC9 as part of the second annual all-DC curated music festival Magnificent Intentions.

Sara Curtin – Sweet Dreams

Singer Sara Curtin takes the title of her new single “Sweet Dreams” literally in the music video directed by Paul Abowd. Amongst the dreamy shots of Curtin singing are close ups of ingredients on their way to becoming a cake. Personally, I was a bit bummed the dessert didn’t turn out to be browines. Nothing better in this than a brownie ice cream sundae, amiright? Curtin’s new full length album Michigan Lilium drops July 24th, and everyone celebrates the release on Thursday August 6th at the Rock & Roll Hotel with openers Stranger in the Alps and The North Country. What better way to celebrate an album’s birthday than with cake for everyone? Just sayin’.

Sara Curtin – Summer video

Singer Sara Curtin has carved out a well-respected niche as half of folk duo The Sweater Set with Maureen Andary, playing endearing folk and pop music with ukulele and banjo. Now she gears up for the release of her solo full length album Michigan Lilium with this music video for “Summer”, and boy is it sultry. Shot in an shadowy empty apartment in Columbia Heights, the video features mesmerizing belly dancer Ebony Qualls dancing slowly with sparklers while Curtin croons with an enduring, classic style at once delicate and assured.
