Ace Cosgrove – Wrong Woes

Our favorite nappy-headed rapper Ace Cosgrove went quiet on us for a few months in early 2018, but we know that just means fire is brewing. His new track “Wrong Woes”, dropped last week with Cosgrove’s distinct staccato cadence and producer Reggie Volume‘s creeping baseline throughout. The handsome video directed by Perry weaves a sparse tale of dealing and betrayal, driving home the enduring theme “never trust the pretty girls”.

Ace Cosgrove – More Advice

Many rappers in DC hype their nappy heads, but let’s be real for a minute, no one does nappy like Ace Cosgrove. The young and fiery rapper just dropped a new music video for “More Advice”, a stand-out track with exquisite big production from BobMoeKill on this year’s 7 song release Ms. Claire’s Basement. The video by Perry features Ace drifting away from his bros to romance tattooed model Ashley Mills in a field filled with gorgeous sunflowers, but things go awry back in the city. Be on the lookout for more Ace Cosgrove shows in 2018, because this guy always delivers.

Ace Cosgrove – Baby Need Clothes

Gaithersburg, MD rapper Ace Cosgrove assuredly found his style on his most recent mixtape Baby Need Food. The production by Robbie Anthem imparts the lush sound of a full band, which Cosgrove excellently translated live with a large group of musicians at his breakout performance at last year’s Landmark Music Festival. The mixtape’s first music video, “Baby Need Clothes”, directed by Perry, pairs Cosgrove’s lyrics about living life positively with visuals of quality father-daughter bonding over Vietnamese noodles and shopping. It’s an intensely personal music video showcasing Cosgrove’s maturity that bodes well for his continued rise.

Ace Cosgrove – Burning Slums

Among the many highlights of this past weekend’s Landmark Music Festival, young rapper Ace Cosgrove stood out for an energetic and inspired performance. Despite a sore throat and early time slot, Cosgrove won many new fans rapping from the middle of the crowd while his large live band jammed onstage. While I wish that every band booked by Landmark came from our hometown, they deserve props for presenting some quality DC talent to the devoted early-goers of the festival, especially Ace Cosgrove. Check out this video for “Burning Slums”, a Black Diamond-produced track from Cosgrove’s UsVsRobots mixtape from last year.

Ace Cosgrove – Golden Chills video

For a young 23 year old rapper from Gaithersburg, Ace Cosgrove is making all the right moves. His first mixtape Simple Criticism just came out in April of this year, and already his second UsVsRobots is the new hotness, with props from XXL, Karmaloop and HipHopDX. Guru MG directed this simple yet stylish video for “Golden Chills”, UsVsRobots’s lead-off track chronicling Cosgrove’s struggles with his inner demons. Load these free mixtapes on your phone and check out Cosgrove’s set opening for BADBADNOTGOOD at American University on Thursday November 13th.
