Liftoff – Summer’s Shown video & show

DC music video of the day! Liftoff just released their debut album Sunday Morning Airplay two days ago, but the group, in one form or another, has been around for a long time. Sharing most of a line-up with Thunderball, their music appeared on the very early ESL compilation disc Dubbed Out In DC way back in 1997. Now producing for Fort Knox Recordings, the group headlines a show at the Black Cat backstage tonight with DJ sets from Thunderball and Fort Knox Five. To get you warmed up for that, here’s their debut video Summer’s Shown.

Go Out to Live Music on a Tuesday

Feel like rocking out in public tonight? Here are some sweet local music options for you:

Lost Civilizations & Sansyou – Dynasty [2210 14th St NW, WDC]

Matthew Archer Stephenson (of the Influence), Timothy Bracken, Andrew Ullman (of Johari), Derek Evry, and hosted by Jon Kaplan (of Bicycle Thieves) – Artisphere (Dome Theatre – Words & Music Singer/Songwriter Series)

The Funk Ark presents: The Loman Durham and Rast Trio, featuring 1/2 of The Funk Ark’s baddass rhythm section. Crushing Acid Jazz and Organ Funk. 10pm-12:30am BOSSA BISTRO, DC.

These United States or Funk Ark?

It’s another Friday night of tough decisions for local music shows. The Black Cat has Bro Ho Ho: A Holiday Music Spectacular with solo shows from former local (snif) Jesse Elliott of These United States, Josh Read of Revival, John Bustine and Brandon Butler.

If you prefer grooving to strumming, head to the Rock and Roll Hotel for a fantastic show with The Funk Ark, Nappy Riddem and House of Soul.

And that’s just the tip of the iceberg! Why can’t there be two of me?

U.S. Royalty – Equestrian video

U.S. Royalty has a free show tonight at The Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage that everyone should check out. In honor of that, our music video of the day is Equestrian!

In addition to the U.S. Royalty show there’s a lot of great local music shows to check out tonight. The Pietasters are joined by new DC ska band The Thrilltones. Benoit and Sergio are spinning at U Street Music Hall. And the mysterious Subterranean A hosts an amazing lineup: Beautiful Swimmers, Protect-U and Volta Bureau. I can’t decide!
