Yesterday Andrew Grossman’s acoustic rock ensemble The North Country premiered the music video for the debut single “The Cross We Bear” from their upcoming album There is Nothing to Fear, dropping April 20. We played the single on this episode of the Hometown Sounds podcast a few weeks ago, but the video from DC’s favorite video director Nigel Lyons, along with TNC’s Grossman and Shaun Dubick, takes this to a higher level. Featuring cameos from BRNDA’s Leah Gage, the Church Night crew and others, the video opens & closes at DIT house venue Bathtub Republic (totally coincidentally where Grossman lives). This heartwarming fable of a downtrodden office worker is another great example of DC’s creative community working (doing it) together, making DC a top notch music town. Don’t miss TNC’s next hometown show on Thursday February 26th at the GWU Marvin Center with Stranger in the Alps and Laughing Man, presented by WRGW. Damn, what a lineup!

The North Country bring an understated twang sensibility to indie rock in a way that’s refreshing and fun. Lead singer Andrew Grossman and bandmates have built on the success of last fall’s debut album You Can Never Go Home Again with many shows (including ours!) and now a brand new single, Sharing Our Alone. This Saturday night the talented gents celebrate with a Black Cat Mainstage show alongside headliners Spirit Animal and a new project from Paperhaus’s John Di Lascio called Johnny Fantastic. Psychedelic folk rock band The North Country celebrates the release of their debut album You Can Never Go Home Again this Saturday night at the Black Cat. The fantastic all-local bill includes SweetBread Jim’s and The Sea Life, also releasing their debut full length album at the show. Today’s music video of the day, for the song It’s Done, was filmed at house venue Paperhaus back in June, so if you were there, you might be in this video!
